How to fit into the office dress code?

The topic of a work outfit should never be neglected. One of the most important features is comfort. Ultimately, you spend about 1/3 of the day at work where you perform different tasks. That's why it's worth to remember about feeling comfortable regardless of the situation. Comfort should be equal to the look. Clothes worn to work don't necessarily have to be expensive and the most trendy. Let's pay attention to tidiness, classic and elegance, which are always welcome and appreciated.

The selection of your work clothing is closely related to the branch, workplace and position. The most formal dress code exists in corporations, banks and places where being trustworthy and professional mean a lot. It's the impeccable look, which is the first determining factor of success. In smaller companies and jobs where creativity is required or when you work in a young energetic team you are allowed to modify your outfit. But most of all, keep in mind elegance in a smart-casual version.

If it comes to the most formal work outfit, the best choice is a men's suit. A well-fitted model goes best with a tie and a bright shirt. The basic rules in selecting the perfect trousers and a suit jacket have remained unchanged for years. The suit jacket should be fitted in the shoulders, it can't get ruffled at the back and the sleeves have to be properly long. Another rule refers to the trousers, they can't be too short because then they look indecorously. On the other hand, if they are too long, they can blow the whole look and make your silhouette look worse. The next step is selecting the colour of the suit. Despite the fact that black is still considered the most elegant, nowadays navy blue and grey suits are the best options for every day to work. They are equally elegant, professional but not as overwhelming as black.

Similarly to a suit, also the shirt should be properly chosen. The best plain shirts need to be well-fitted, in a light colour with a classic or cutaway collar. The perfect tie should be darker than the shirt, but not lighter than the suit. It's also important to remember that it should not reach below the belt.

With smart-casual outfits you can experience more slack and introduce new colours and details to your stylings. If you're not entitled to a strict office dress code every day, feel free to wear comfy slim-fit shirts with a casual button-down collar. Equip such styling with a tie and a blazer, but please remember about one golden rule. Namely, the shirt worn to work should be long-sleeved. The short sleeve one should be kept for warmer days without a blazer and a tie. Less formal stylings to work should be always accompanied by eye-catching details. A double collar, trims and a dashy button strip can be a bull's eye and nicely vivid your outfit.

We have come to the trousers. A good option can be setting a blazer and a shirt with jeans, under the condition that they have got a regular cut, classic navy blue or blue colour and lack unnecessary details like stonewashing and embroiderement. An interesting alternative for jeans are chinos.

Classic beige or in fancy colours. A smart-casual suit jacket, despite of being less formal, should also be well-fitted. The zip-fastening as well as the shoulders are also very important that's why you should pay attention to the flaps and sleeve-length. Double-breasted suit jackets are suitable for slim men characterized by an impeccable figure. In turn, the one-button suit jackets nicely improve the silhouette proportions and always look good. When it's hot, feel free to replace it with an elegant jumper. Men's plain V-neck jumpers go well with a shirt and a tie adding chic.

Last but not least – accessories. To suit jackets fit best dark, classic and well-polished shoes. In smart-casual style you can afford a bit of extravagance and choose ankle boots, moccasins or even a bit sporty shoes. The socks should match the colour of the shoes and shouldn't be too short, so does the belt. Instead of a backpack, choose a briefcase or a men's bag. For a couple of seasons a pocket square has been very popular.
